Dryer fires occur when heat generated during normal operation is unable to dissipate properly. This most commonly happens when lint builds up inside the dryer, vent connection, or exhaust duct.

As airflow becomes restricted, temperatures rise. Lint, which is highly combustible, can ignite when exposed to excessive heat.
Contributing factors may include long vent runs, excessive bends, crushed or damaged ducting, improper materials, or lack of inspection over time.8y
